ME Support branding
Myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) also know as chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), is a chronic neurological illness with a huge debilitating effect. People with ME/CFS can be bedbound for years and unable to hold down a job or function even basic day-to-day activities. Multiple symptoms include overwhelming fatigue, pain, cognitive and digestive issues.
ME Support, a charity dedicated to supporting people with this very complicated illness, needed to rebrand to reflect the growth of the organisation and the move to support people with long COVID. Creating a logo was the first step. The logo and branding needed to reflect the philosophy and values of the organisation.
Trustworthy • Protective • Empathetic • Encouraging • Facilitative • Supportive • Approachable • Independent • Providing Leadership Care Guidance, Navigation, Pathways and Hope.
The story behind the new logo and the candle relates to the famous nurse Florence Nightingale, who had one of the first recorded cases of ME. During her nighttime rounds at hospitals, Nightingale carried a lantern, which became a beacon of hope for her patients
The logo represents Nightingale’s lantern.
This imagery was choosen because
A lantern shines a light on something in the dark - Representing the efforts to raise awareness of this often neglected condition and to shine a light on ME.
Light symbolises truth - Reflecting the
quest to dispel widely-held stigmas
around ME.
The lantern provides a beacon - That guides people to safety. In a world clouded with misinformation, ME Support provide the best illness management information to guide members on their journey.
Other collateral was created including letterhead, business cards, powerpoint presentation templates and a website.
